Enough already

I vote in every election, though politics turns my stomach. It’s not a job I ever wanted. There isn’t a politician out there who hasn’t done dirty deals, lied to make themselves look better,  covered up something shady, flip-flopped on important issues, or outright broken a law. It’s like the basic job description. And you know what? Major business owners are guilty of the same deplorable behavior, and both call it being successful.

The last few months of this election have been disheartening to say the least. People post and repost click-bait articles from the media – for what purpose? You aren’t going to change anyone’s mind, you are just shoving your opinions into everyone else’s face as you regurgitate whatever the media has posted this week that makes you feel superior about your views. There have been precious few debates and an abundance of horrific playground behavior from supposed adults.

People aren’t thinking for themselves; an appalling number don’t understand how our government works, and I can’t even wrap my head around the violence, hatred, and bigotry this election has exposed and encouraged in my fellow Americans. I am embarrassed for our country.

But I voted. And I can’t wait for this nonsense to be over, and for some new scapegoat to try and steer this bus of ungrateful, narrow minded, armchair activists into the next four years. Millions of people seem to think they know how to run the county, but precious few step up to actually do anything or make any change in our system. Let’s stop feeding the trolls, do our homework, and if we feel strongly about an issue get involved rather than sitting on the couch complaining for another four years.

About wonkydonkey

You want random? You got it. Mostly knitting and gardening, with some home improvements, pets, baking, family, and the occasional bad joke thrown in for good measure.
